The Facebook page for Domino’s Pizza Malaysia is using the controversy surrounding Blizzard’s now-infamous Diablo Immortal reveal as the centerpiece for their latest promotion. In a recent post, Domino’s makes a slew of not-so-subtle references to Blizzard’s disastrous announcement of an upcoming Diablo mobile game.

The brassy promotional image features the text “This is not an out-of-season April Fool’s Joke,” referencing a specific question asked during the Q&A following Diablo Immortal’s reveal. Underneath the text is a man dressed very similarly to the audience member who asked the question.

As if the image itself isn’t sufficiently on the nose, the accompanying caption is equally, if not even more, blatant in its trolling. The text is littered with Diablo and Blizzard-related puns. In one particularly entertaining instance, Domino’s calls its audience to claim their promotional rewards before they “DIA BLOW away by a Blizzard.”

The cutting ad campaign directed at Blizzard may seem a tad out-of-character for a pizza chain, but the promotion does involve video game rewards, so it’s not entirely out of the blue. Basically, buying Domino’s pizza in Malaysia can earn players different in-game items depending on how much they spend. Unfortunately for Blizzard, it appears the mob of disgruntled Diablo fans includes people working for Domino’s Pizza’s social media team.

The fact that a company as separated from the world of gaming as Domino’s Pizza is taking such an offensive position here just underscores the staggering magnitude of disappointment coming from fans of the Diablo franchise. In fact, even one of Blizzard’s ex-employees and a producer on Diablo 2 expressed his thoughts on the matter recently, saying Blizzard is out of touch with their base.

Nevertheless, anyone hoping for Blizzard to cancel their plans for a mobile Diablo shouldn’t hold their breath. In fact, Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham stated in an interview conducted shortly after Diablo Immortal’s reveal that mobile games are coming for all of Blizzard’s IPs.

Diablo Immortal is currently in development for iOS and Android devices.
