Now, details about the game’s open beta have been set forth, including an exclusive early access beta which will be divided into two Acts, the first of which will be accessible only to those who have pre-ordered Diablo 2: Resurrected. Officially started on August 13, gamers who pre-ordered can progress through the aforementioned chapters using all but two of the classes:

There is a notable exception of the Assassin and Necromancer, although it is confirmed that the two classes will be available at launch. Speaking of which, following the Early Access weekend, the Diablo 2 Open Beta will be up for grabs for everyone across the supported platforms from August 20.

But for gamers who want to play now and are willing to spend 20 dollars on top of the base price, they can pre-order the Prime Evil Collection, which comes with some add-ons for Diablo 3, as well as access to the exclusive early access beta. Yet if gamers already own a copy of Diablo 3 or are patient enough to hold out till August 20. There isn’t much incentive to fork out the extra payment.

However, for those willing to pave the extra mile, pre-ordering the Prime Evil Collection gets you the following:

Diablo 3 Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion Diablo 3: Rise of the Necromancer pack A Mephisto pet for Diablo 3 Hatred’s Grasp wings for Diablo 3

As exciting as this beta is, it should be noted players on consoles have taken issue with Diablo 2’s lack of a custom game browser. Not only that, there are hardly any communication capabilities, which is unusual since the game is to be played tactically and cooperatively. The same situation also goes for both voice and text chat features, regardless of whether the player is using a headset or a keyboard extension.

As for systems, Blizzard has noted that the game will be available on PC and all current consoles; including PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Additionally, the acclaimed hack-and-slasher will also feature cross-progression so that players can keep leveling their characters, so save data is tied to an account instead of the platform.

Diablo 2: Resurrected releases September 23 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
