However, by progressing through matches and leveling up, players can unlock ritual tokens which can be used to purchase a variety of perks to make surviving this nightmare so much easier. From perks improving movement speed to highlighting objects through walls, there are perks to help a wide variety of play styles. It’s important to pick the best perk to take into a map, as cultists can only benefit from one perk a game.

10 Regeneration

UV is essential for players when defending themselves from the pursuit of cultists that are possessed by Azazel, as the more ritual objectives are completed, the more violently the possessed person will act. The perk Regeneration allows the UV to recharge 50% faster than usual, meaning players won’t have to wait as long to reuse the UV without it running out.

The perk costs three ritual tokens to purchase, which is quite pricey, especially for a perk that cannot be used during nightmare mode. Players will want to focus on purchasing other, more valuable, perks when attempting these higher difficulties.

9 Quartermaster

As a skill that can be purchased early into playing for one ritual token, Quartermaster is a great perk to purchase for those that are not familiar with the maps. This allows players to locate first aid kits through walls without needing to be knocked down, allowing a player to be the dedicated healer for the round.

As Devour is a game that thrives from being played with others, players will mainly benefit from Quartermaster when playing with others, otherwise focusing on keeping themselves alive is more important.

8 Crawler

Another perk that is most beneficial when playing with others, the Crawler perk, makes cultists that are successfully caught and downed by Azazel less of a hindrance. Players equipped with this skill grants a 100% movement increase while knocked down, allowing players to escape compromising places that could risk the death of fellow teammates while trying to save them.

Costing only one ritual token, this is another perk that players can purchase and use early on to better benefit their survival in a hope of achieving other perks in the future.

7 Acceleration

Perks that increase the movement of the player are incredibly useful in this co-op horror, as the game goes on, Azazel will get faster and faster till it is near enough impossible to get anything done. Acceleration gives players a small boost to their movement speed for 20 seconds after being revived. This prevents a teammate from being knocked down seconds after being revived.

Swiftness comes at a small fee of one ritual token, allowing beginner players to benefit greatly from the perk while becoming familiar with the game.

6 Repellent

There isn’t just the main demonic entity Azazel to worry about for players, but also its demonic minions that crawl or scurry around the maps, hindering objectives or attacking the player. Repellent slows down these minions by half when the player is nearby to them.

This is incredibly helpful on the Inn, as the spiders will attempt to steal the valuable ritual items that are needed to survive. Repellent does cost three ritual tokens, meaning it can be quite pricey early on, and these tokens may be better saved for similar priced perks that are better.

5 Field Medic

For players that devote themselves to filling the healer role in teamwork genres, running with the Field Medic perk in Devour is sure to resemble that role, as players can revive others 50% faster. If playing with a group of friends, it never hurts for someone to be running this perk, as knocked down teammates can feel like a restraint to getting the objectives done.

However, when costing three ritual tokens, it can be seen as a costly purchase that puts a lot of reliance on that player if the team wishes to succeed. In the unlucky situation that the medic gets knocked down, it could risk the game.

4 Fully Charged

Arguably an upgraded version of Regeneration, as it allows the player to use UV for 20 seconds after consuming a battery without losing any charge. Unlike it’s lesser perk, Fully Charged can be equipped and used on Nightmare difficulty, where the free UV can be incredibly useful when Azazel hits the player hard.

While also costing three ritual tokens, Fully Charged is just a better option for players to run with when presented with the two perks. This perk is also a must for facing maps like the Inn, where players are constantly using their UV to remove webs and spiders.

3 Team Leader

Running away from the cultist that is possessed by Azazel is a great strategy, but players can’t always be running when they need to interact with points around the map when they need to complete the ritual. Being a Team Leader allows players to complete long interacts, including revives, 100% faster than normal as long as there is a living player in the vicinity of 5 meters of them.

Obviously, this perk will only be any good to players that are playing co-op, otherwise Team Leader doesn’t work. This skill will also cost three ritual tokens.

2 Supply Runner

For a perk that only can be purchased for only one ritual token, players have no reason to be avoiding grabbing this early. In Devour, players should always be holding onto an item to bring it back to the ritual site.

Many of the other single ritual token perks cannot rate this high, such as Quartermaster, as eventually players will outgrow the necessity. Supply Runner increases the speed of the player by 15% when carrying a ritual item, and therefore they should always be receiving a speed boosts.

1 Evader

Evader is a great solo running and co-op perk to run when trying to exorcise Azazel across all the maps. It may be a difficult perk to master at first, but once learning how to use it, Evader is a great way to buy teammates time as well as avoid getting knocked down.

As one of the most expensive perks in the game, costing five ritual tokens, it is very much worth the leveling it needs. When the player is chased by Azazel, they will receive a 25% increase to their movement speed. This not only helps a player avoid their soon-to-be death, but also acts as a warning that the demon is coming.
