Due to the indie nature of games marketed by Devolver Digital, the publisher has struggled to achieve the same recognition as others that prioritize triple-A titles. However, the American company has curated some of the best indie talent that the industry has to offer, including Gris, Death’s Door, and Inscryption. This year alone Devolver Digital has published Cult of the Lamb and Return to Monkey Island, two of 2022’s most celebrated releases which won Best Indie Game and PC Game of the Year respectively at the Golden Joystick Awards in November. Both had been presented in previous Devolver Digital conferences, which never fail to provide an amusing and eccentric display that no other publisher even tries to match.

Devolver’s previous Public Access was less elaborate than its E3 appearances but stuck to not taking itself too seriously. News that it would return came courtesy of a candid tweet posted by Devolver Digital which linked to the YouTube livestream due to commence tomorrow. The description reveals that fans can expect “new looks and details on Cult of the Lamb, Stick it to the Stickman, Terra Nil, Anger Foot, and Skate Story,” a collection of games that either released this year or are due for 2023.
Although the description concludes by assuring that it will be a “very normal and completely sane holiday special,” viewers can expect the complete opposite. However, big surprises or reveals should not be anticipated, as last year’s Public Access was mostly dedicated to new content and updates, but there are plenty of games to be excited to see more from. Shown earlier this year, Skate Story offers a supernatural take on the skateboarding genre and may become a unique competitor for the Tony Hawk franchise.
Anger Foot is described as a lightning-fast action FPS which received an apt trailer this Summer to reveal a 2023 PC release. The game, previously a prototype on itch, is “being developed into a full game” and a demo is currently available on Steam. No matter what is shown at Devolver’s Public Access, fans will likely leave satisfied because of either the new details for upcoming games or whatever off-the-wall script it has written up this time.
